Note on
Cooperation project between the Arab Publishers` Association and the Institute of Arab Manuscripts

At the generous initiative of Dr. Murad Al-Rifi, Director of the Institute of Arab Manuscripts, the Arab Publishers` Association signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Institute, aimed at the following:
- The establishment of a common website on the Internet, the purpose of which would be to publish a documented bibliography of all manuscripts printed since the Arabs knew printing until now, in order to end the duplication of manuscripts published by publishing houses and to unify efforts in this context.
- The Institute of Arabic Manuscripts will provide bibliographic materials.
- Each publisher adds the new manuscripts he works on to the site, and this gives him priority in publishing the manuscript, and prevents the repetition of manuscript investigation.
- Preparation of a database of new generations of investigators trained by the Institute and holders of academic degrees that allow them to work on the investigation of manuscripts.
- The two sides shall cooperate in monitoring important manuscripts that have not yet been investigated and nominating them to publishers.

Arab Publishers` Association Elections Postponed
Decision No. (14)

Due to the approaching end of the tenth session of the Arab Publishers` Association, scheduled for the end of 2024, and in accordance with the legal procedures necessary for the convening of the General Assembly and the holding of the elections of the Board of Directors for the eleventh session, which is scheduled for 25/1/2025, which necessitated sending an invitation to all members of the Arab Publishers` Association, to attend the General Assembly and then elect and run, after the approval of the Board of Directors of the Association.
Presented to the thirty-two members of the Board of Directors entitled to vote, thirty-one members agreed to postpone the convening of the General Assembly and elections, and one member abstained from voting.
According to Article Twenty of the Basic Law of the Arab Publishers` Association, which stipulates that "in the event that the General Assembly cannot convene for compelling reasons, the mandate of the Council shall be extended for a period not exceeding six months, and for a similar period or periods, if these reasons remain in place."
